hello Roy Waldron friends and families with this year's spring planning meeting slideshow with school being out our spring planning meeting is going to look very different this year so I just wanted to thank you in advance it's for taking the time to view this PowerPoint and to give us some valuable feedback afterwards so I'd like to begin by explaining the purpose of our spring planning meeting are mango wood meeting is to bring together those who have the greatest stake in the welfare of our students that includes administrators teachers and Community Representatives so that we can make sure that federal funds in a way that promotes academic success in morning for every student the information that we discussed today and any decisions that are made our first steps in creating our school Improvement plan budget one school year this planning process ensures that federal funds are spent in a way that will help guarantee success for all of our students what is a Title 1 School wide program title one is a federally funded program the funds are based on the number of students that we have receiving free and reduced lunch the funds are given to Royal and are used to benefit the whole School these phones are supplemental and must be spent in accordance with federal guidelines so what does a successful school-wide program look like what are we aiming to do with this funding so we work really hard to attract some of the best teachers we provide teachers with high-quality training we aim to increase parent and family involvement we aim to improve student achievement and we monitor that student add a regularly to make sure that we're doing so we like to implement new strategies to consistently improve instruction and we want to assist our incoming second graders as well as our outgoing 5th graders with positive transitions we want to consider the needs and suggestions of our community during decision-making process which is what we're doing today and we want to coordinate the federal state and local services so that we can be most effective so how do we know that you are working or not so we do that and lots of data driven so easy is our Universal screener it's a tool that we used to screen all students on basic reading and math skills it's also used to progress monitor students receiving tiered interventions we do those screenings three times a year I ready math is a program that we used to green all students three times a year in addition to ongoing online instruction and assessment throughout the year take a pint in ready State assessment is another tool that we use and then we also use common formative assessments and things to assess students Mastery of the grade-level essential skills throughout the school year so when we're thinking about our Dad we're going to use that data to make decisions for this year and next year so some of the things that we noticed when we were making our decisions for this current school year looking at our data were some areas of success in two big areas that we picked up where we were successful last year third grade math high growth index 4.96 and 5 are 4th grade ELA had a growth index of 2.42 making a level 5 as well so then we also some areas where we needed to improve and so we looked at reading and math across all the grade levels in the areas that stood out to us the most we're third and fourth grade math show growth but they didn't shows growth growth as they had in past year so we spent this year focusing on that and also 5th grade ELA had a growth index of -1.2 and that made them a level 2 so we really wanted to focus in on 5th grade English and language arts we can improve that so based on that when we made our school Improvement plan we set for priority goals for our school so those four goals that we worked off of this year English language arts we wanted to ensure that all students and then we also wanted to make sure that Roy wolde recruited retrain retained and trained effective teachers and building leaders to support our growing and diverse student population so high we spend our funds this year we need all of that data from you all and from various other surveys throughout the and we prioritize our funding so this year here's how it was prioritized our entire a Title 1 budget was $576,000 and 85% of that on personnel go into more detail about each of these categories in following slides 9% of our funding on staff development and substitutes to ensure that teachers could attend that staff development we spent 4% of our funds on instructional materials we spent $3,500 on a cliff and we spent $10,000 on family engagement nights and that includes the that we purchased for those nights so let's go into more detail on each of these categories so let's look at that first category that we just talked about and that's our Title One funding staff or personnel with Title 1 funds we were utilize to academic instructional coaches and for academic interventionist we also have one additional instructional coach in our building and two additional academic interventionist but these are just the ones that were under Title 1 funds let's take a look at a snapshot of the responsibilities of this person now they're in charge in groups and 236 student interventions those student interventions are responsible for the destruction 47 proof 312 PLC meetings 6 team meetings the next wave at we spent funds this year was on instructional materials and supplies some of the ways that we spent this money were on Orton is the program all of our academic interventionist as well so we were able to purchase lots of resources and materials for them to use with this program we purchase math instructional materials that are in our teacher check out room available for all of our classrooms to use we purchase mastering basic math fact grade level books for all of the teachers in our building that use for playing various things throughout the year and we were able to Intervention Program for our academic interventionist the next category is instructional technology with Title One funds this year we purchase the following programs we purchase nearby Imagine Learning grape an interactive orton-gillingham reading a to z and CLA and these are all Fanta programs that are used in various ways throughout our building some of the professional development opportunities this year as well as offer within our building to a we had to come to our building an offer to staff development opportunities for our students on therapeutic behavior management we had some training in the siop model again this year continue training that we have started in years past we were able to spend some teachers to a national math conference as well as the National Conference for reading we offered Math training we offered teachers to which is science technology engineering and Mathematics some of our faculty were going to attend the time for change conference as well as we were able to send some folks annual conference on advancing School Mental Health lastly are pear engagement opportunities this year some of the ways that we were able to bring families were are you at the start of every year we had an ESL family literacy training and were able to purchase three books and resources for every family that attended Festival this year long with LaVergne primary school that was really exciting that's our biggest and most popular of it every year and we were able to purchase pumpkins and books for all of our family we had our nachos and numbers family Mac not too long ago and threw that we were able to purchase 10 math games family nights have a streak by the ones that are planned purchased but now that we're not in school they haven't happened yet so we are able to receive the free books we have our family literacy game night where we have family we also like to offer our how to prevent the summer slide is Art Workshop that we offer if every year and families are able to take home that bridge book to work on over the summer and we give you strategies to keep the summer learning going we also had a couple resources that are going to be made available to those 5th grade students transitioning to Middle School to help with that transition to our category was used to pay for student agendas that we have we offer to our students every year one of the things that we really like to do is survey our families because we want to know throughout the year if what we're doing is working and if it's well-received and we want to know how we can improve that so based on our most recent survey that we offer to family we found that 96% of our family's 100% of our families feel Fairchild teacher 96% of those surveyed feel that the school provides a safe place for their child to learn 91% field at royal families to be involved in 96 set of those surveyed said that Roy Waldron informed and success so we were really pleased with that feedback and we hope to even improve more by next year suggestions for next year based on some more survey results that we have most recently the best use of the word this current year and the top result we got from that we're Staffing professional development instructional technology and resources and some of the suggestions that they gave us for their prioritized needs for how we included Staffing reading resources additional technology and continued family engagement opportunities we were also able to serve a parent and some of the suggestions here as well as some of the feedback was that teacher course found it to be to class dojo and where the preferred parents requested continue family engagement nights and then appear pressure and bullying where the most requested topics for those family nights so we want to thank you for participating and looking at all of the data and information that we have to share from this year so what we're going to ask if you now is another message and within this message will be serving us to prioritize our funds for next year completing that survey we really appreciate it again we have everyone at Roy Waldron I just want to thank you for giving your time to help us with this for your patience is this is Uncharted Territory and this is new as well and I ask that you complete the survey that you received and please reach out to anyone of us at the school if you have any questions or comments for that we can answer any questions for you we thank you so much we and we're hoping that you stay safe have a great day everyone
