Multiple RCS educators selected to groups to help English Learners

Educators from multiple Rutherford County Schools campuses have been selected to serve on the Tennessee Department of Education’s English Learner Educator Working Groups.

The working groups were designed to address issues impacting English Learners and their teachers. They will focus on intensive language instruction and service time for English learners and supporting rigorous content instruction in general education classrooms, according to the state Department of Education.

Those selected to serve are as follows:

K-8 Working Group

High School Working Group

Mervat Abdelmasseh, Smyrna

Isomari Pozo, LaVergne

Michelle Smith, Riverdale

Christine Tennyson, Riverdale

Carla Wall, Siegel

Candice Walls, Riverdale

Legislative Working Group
